Juli Janovicz
Juli searches for the poetry between what is seen and what can’t be explained. She draws and paintsbthe flowers and the colors as they feel. Though the flowers are removed from the garden the garden remains. It is this tension and movement she tries to portray on a flat piece of watercolor paper. The essence of the individual bloom and the nuances of the vase capture her imagination. As she draws and paints, the color of the flowers and the memory of the garden vibrate in their container.
Juli arrived at painting from other art forms with a B.A. in English and a Master’s in Library and Information Science. She immersed herself in cottage gardening for more than twenty-five years, studying garden design, color theory, antique flowers and historic gardens. Juli took classes in the studio art program in Expressive Botanical Arts at the Chicago Botanic Garden, Glencoe, Illinois. Her studio is at 16th Street Studios, located is Racine Business Center, Racine, WI. Juli’s work can be found at local galleries and restaurants in Racine, Kenosha and northern Illinois areas.
